ADMISSIONS POLICY Priority for Admission of a New Student:
Steps in the Admissions Process: 1. Parents have their child’s name added to the waiting list by completing and returning the registration packet.
2. When an opening becomes available, the school secretary calls the parents to set up a time for admissions testing and parent interview. · Both parents should plan to attend the parent interview · Testing fee and registration fee are due at this time · Parents should bring a copy of their child’s most recent report card. Parents of home schooled children should bring a portfolio of their child’s recent schoolwork. 3. Within two weeks after the testing/interview, the principal will mail the parents a letter detailing the results and explaining the admissions decision. Final Admission Criteria: 1. Admissions test results 2. Parent interview and willingness to sign the “Statement of Faith” 3. Previous school performance 4. Consideration is given to the proportion of boys and girls in the class when making a final admissions decision. Age Requirement: Under state law, students entering kindergarten must be five years old by September 1st of the year they enter kindergarten. Learning Disabilities: At this time, NCCS is not able to admit children diagnosed with severe learning disabilities or behavioral disorders. Probationary Admission: A child may be admitted on a probationary basis for academic or behavioral reasons. The Administrator will evaluate the progress of a probationary student with the classroom teacher and the parents at the end of the first quarter.
